The METIS Inter-Row Cultivator: Renowned for Its Simplicity, Robustness and Performance

Options for hoeing machines

Designed to minimize the use of agricultural inputs and preserve soil biodiversity, Agrivaux’s METIS inter-row cultivator is the result of careful attention to feedback from users and prospective customers, combined with the rigorous application of the most advanced technologies in the field of mechatronics.

The main objectives behind its design are:

Productivity

Working windows can sometimes be very limited. METIS helps you avoid unnecessary downtime caused by daily maintenance, time-consuming adjustments, and other routine operations.

Several features help improve the performance and productivity of our METIS machines:

  • Accurate course stability thanks to stabilizing discs

  • Trailing gauge wheels and automatic lifting of the tool units

  • Easy and efficient tool mounting

Versatility

The beams supporting the individual units are positioned so that virtually any row spacing can be accommodated without mechanical constraints. Stops make it easy to adjust and reposition the units as required.

A liquid or solid input distribution system can also be fitted quickly and easily, further enhancing the versatility and performance of the METIS.

Ease of Use

METIS machines are controlled via ISOBUS, allowing them to be operated directly through compatible tractor displays.

Robustness and Elegance

The entire metal structure is manufactured from S355 steel, providing both excellent strength and a high degree of flexibility.

After degreasing, sandblasting and metallization, the structure receives a primer coat followed by two powder-coated finishing coats. This process gives the METIS an elegant finish while ensuring excellent durability and long-term protection.

Advanced technology for precision agriculture

Modules and features designed to maximize efficiency, precision, and sustainability – available on METIS models from 2026.

The hoe's and side-shift systems available from 2026 incorporate several advanced technology modules to ensure maximum precision and efficient operation, while meeting the requirements of sustainable agriculture.

Tool Unit Lifting Module

Individual or grouped lifting of the tool units can be controlled manually from the ISOBUS display in the tractor cab.

When combined with an RTK system (tractor RTK or standalone RTK), this module automatically raises and lowers the tool units at the beginning and end of each row.

The new “ISO Sections” module can now control an unlimited number of tool units.

Gauge Wheel Load Management Module

The load applied to the gauge wheels can be adjusted directly from the display.

A particularly useful solution for loose soils.

Standalone RTK Module

From the same display, LEMCA offers the possibility of controlling the METIS using one or two cameras or a standalone RTK system.

Several solutions are available to the user:

1. Investment in the standalone RTK system only (same price as one camera)

The RTK antenna is installed on the seeder or planter.
The working paths are accurately recorded.

The antenna is then transferred to the cultivator.

The operator selects “RTK” mode on the display, and the cultivator follows exactly the previously recorded paths.

This technology is particularly useful for pre-emergence weeding, as well as for crops with uneven growth patterns or crops that are sensitive to wind.

2. Investment in one or two cameras and the RTK antenna (the RTK antenna costs approximately the same as a second camera)

The solution described in Point 1 can also be used.

When it is not possible to record the paths during sowing or planting:

  • During the first camera-guided weeding operation, RTK recording is activated simultaneously.

  • During subsequent weeding operations, the operator can select the most suitable guidance mode.

This technology is particularly useful for weeding crops with uneven growth patterns or crops that are sensitive to wind.

RTK Tracker Module Connected to the Tractor RTK System

The side-shift system is equipped with the RTK Tracker module.

When controlled by the RTK Tracker, the side-shift system keeps the tools accurately aligned with the tractor’s path.

This technology requires the side-shift system to be used when establishing the crop.

Currently, the RTK Tracker must be from the same manufacturer as the tractor’s RTK system.

Working Depth Control Module

Ultrasonic sensors positioned in front of the gauge wheels continuously measure the working depth.

  • From the display, the operator sets the required working depth for the tools on each unit.

  • Each unit is automatically positioned to maintain the required working depth, regardless of soil conditions.

This technology is particularly valuable in heterogeneous soils, ensuring consistent and effective weed cutting below the soil surface.

Localized Spraying and/or Fertilizer Application Module

  • 1,500-litre front tank compliant with current standards (rinsing tank, etc.)

  • Choice of electric, hydraulic or PTO-driven pump

  • Electronic application rate control proportional to forward speed

  • Manual section shut-off from the in-cab display

  • Automatic section shut-off controlled by the tractor’s RTK signal or a standalone RTK signal

  • Adjustable spray nozzles positioned in front of the tool units

Liquid fertilizer is injected directly into the soil flow generated by the shares.

Made possible by the latest technologies, this solution:

  • Fits perfectly within the agroecological approach promoted by the European Union

  • Significantly reduces operating costs by lowering the use of pesticides and fertilizers

Cover Crop Seeding

A hopper and distribution system can be installed at the front of the tractor or directly on the METIS.

During the final weeding operation, the seeds are distributed directly into the soil flow generated by the tine harrows.

This technique has been successfully implemented in areas particularly vulnerable to soil erosion.

Accessories to adapt the cultivator to your specific needs

Equip your METIS cultivator with accessories and options for optimal performance.

Agrivaux offers a range of compatible accessories designed to maximize the efficiency of the METIS hoe:

Guidance Cameras

The cameras monitor several crop rows simultaneously.

The images are processed via the in-cab display, while the side-shift system is controlled electro-hydraulically to position the cultivator with maximum accuracy.

This technology has been used for many years but has recently been significantly improved through the integration of advanced algorithms and AI.

The result: greater precision, higher working speeds and improved overall performance.

Ultrasonic Sensors

Designed for use with ridge-grown crops.

The sensors are positioned towards the sides of the ridges and continuously detect the position of the machine.

The data is processed via the in-cab display, while the side-shift system is controlled electro-hydraulically to keep the machine accurately centred.

This technology is particularly suitable for all operations on ridges, including mulching, planting, weeding and harvesting.

Standalone RTK

The system records the exact position of the implement during sowing or planting.

During subsequent field operations, the system accurately positions the implement by automatically controlling the side-shift system.

This makes it possible to weed crops before emergence, as well as crops with uneven or asymmetrical growth.
